Stéphane Guy, it’s over

Arriving on RMC in 2021, Stéphane Guy will join a new media.

Stéphane Guy and RMC, it’s over. According to information disclosed this Thursday by the daily The teamthe former star commentator of Canal+ will leave RMC, where he appeared on the show L’After Foot and on the RMC Sport channel to comment on the Champions League for three years, to join the channel L’Équipe.

On the L’Equipe channel, Stéphane Guy will be responsible for covering Euro 2024 in Germany (from June 14 to July 14) as well as the Paris Olympic Games (from July 26 to August 11) as a columnist for the various broadcasts from the channel in the clear.

Stéphane Guy arrives on L’Equipe next week

Before starting his new challenge, Stéphane Guy will speak one last time on RMC at the start of next week. Employed freelance within the radio, the 53-year-old journalist would not have been able to continue his activity as a commentator next season, RMC no longer having the rights to broadcast the Champions League.

As a reminder, Stéphane Guy was fired by Canal+ in December 2020 for having appropriated the antenna, according to the management of the encrypted channel, which he decided to attack at the Industrial Tribunal. Although he obtained a conviction from his former employer for “unfair dismissal”, it was not overturned. He therefore decided to appeal.
