Thierry Neuville had the last word. This Sunday, the Belgian won the Monte-Carlo WRC rally, the first of thirteen rounds planned for this 2024 season of the specialty world championship. The Hyundai team driver was ahead, at the end of the 17 special stages contested in recent days, the Frenchman Sébastien Ogier, at the wheel of his Toyota and who aimed to score a tenth victory in this same event.

Neuville wins the 20th victory since the start of his career, the second in the Principality after having also gleaned the 2020 edition. The Belgian ensured, while in control against the attacks of his main competitor, this Sunday, during this last day of race.

Neuville ended up as boss

The Hyundai driver even took the opportunity to further increase his lead in the general classification, over his first pursuer Sébastien Ogier. His lead, still only 3”3 over the Frenchman, before this Sunday, was definitively increased to 16”1. Thanks, in particular, to his three victories, including the Power Stage, during the last three stages of this Sunday’s program. Thierry Neuville obviously also takes the lead in the general classification of the WRC world rally championship.

With a total of 30 points, the Belgian is ahead of Frenchman Sébastien Ogier (24) as well as Briton Elfyn Evans (21), third in this Monte-Carlo WRC rally, at the wheel of his Toyota, and therefore also third in the general classification. .
