"I have no words"

“I have no words”

Find the reactions of the drivers at the end of the Monaco GP, dominated by Charles Leclerc ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz Jr.

Charles Leclerc (MCO/Ferrari) – Winner

“I have no words to express how I feel. This success is even more special in that I had already taken pole position twice on this circuit but had never had luck on my side. This victory means a lot. It was the race that made me want to become a Formula 1 driver. With fifteen laps to go, I no longer thought about anything, I just hoped I could bring the car back to the finish line in one piece. My father gave everything for me to achieve my dream, and it was a dream we shared together to race here and win here. Honestly, I have no words…”

Oscar Piastri (AUS/McLaren) – 2nd

“It was a difficult race. The pace at the beginning was incredibly slow. I tried to try my luck at the exit of the tunnel but the gap was not enough to allow a car to pass. Thanks to the team. It was a great weekend overall. It’s an excellent result for us, the best of the season as far as I’m concerned. And it’s magnificent to get on the podium here in Monaco. Charles (Leclerc) was sensational all weekend. He was fast from the very first lap of FP1. I’m happy to finish second. It’s a good result for the team. I am very, very happy with this result. »

Carlos Sainz Jr (ESP/Ferrari) – 3eme

“It was tight at the start. I had a bad feeling going into the first lap, which quickly turned into a good one after being repositioned to third place for the second start. After that, the race pace was good, as you would expect, but it’s just impossible to overtake on the streets of Monaco. I am extremely happy to see Charles (Leclerc) win “his” Grand Prix at home, given the way he drove all weekend. I managed to get on the podium with him, in third place. It’s good for the whole team. I have the impression that we are getting stronger and stronger, race after race. When I saw that Lando (Norris) no longer had enough room to stop to put on medium tires and come attack me, I increased the pace at the end and turned in 1’14. I was able to put pressure on Oscar (Piastri) to try to make him make a mistake. He lost his rear end several times but it wasn’t enough to pass him. »
