Germany-Sprint: Martin’s response

Surprised at the first corner by Miguel Oliveira and Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin quickly took back the lead to win the sprint of the German Grand Prix ahead of the Portuguese and the Italian. Fabio Quartararo finished 13th while Johann Zarco took 17th place.

Jorge Martin responds brilliantly to Francesco Bagnaia. While the double world champion enjoyed a perfect weekend in Assen to come back to just ten points behind the championship leader, the “Martinator” had no room for error in the sprint of the German Grand Prix. A few hours after breaking the Sachsenring record to secure pole position, The Pramac team driver once believed that his efforts would be in vain.. Indeed, after lifting the front wheel at the lights out, Jorge Martin saw Miguel Oliveira slide his Aprilia from the Trackhouse team on the inside of the first corner. But the Portuguese himself saw Francesco Bagnaia take a lot of risks. Starting from the second row, “Pecco” dove even more sharply to steal the show and take the lead of the race.
After this incredible start, Jorge Martin immediately raised his voice.

Martin quickly took over the controls

It took him just two rounds to wipe out first Miguel Oliveira and then Francesco Bagnaia. Back in control of this sprint, the “Martinator” did not tremble until the conclusion of the fifteen laps on the programme. However, he was never able to take off against a rediscovered Miguel Oliveira who did what was necessary to plead his case to potential future employers. For the first time since the introduction of sprint races last year, the Trackhouse rider climbed onto the podium with second place. After seeing his teammate Enea Bastianini come back strongly, Francesco Bagnaia secured third place but sees his deficit to Jorge Martin in the championship standings increase to fifteen points.. Franco Morbidelli completes the Top 5 while Marc Marquez put in another festival on a circuit that suits his driving perfectly. Starting from 13th position, The six-time MotoGP world champion has shrugged off the pain from his heavy crash on Friday..

Mr. Marquez snatches sixth place

He was thus able to gain place after place over the course of the laps.
At the finish line, he beat Maverick Viñales and snatched sixth place by just three thousandths of a second. On the French side, Fabio Quartararo did not have the pace to hope to move up from his 14th position. After a complicated start, the 2021 world champion had to settle for 13th place ahead of Raul Fernandez who did not confirm his very good lap in qualifying, the comparison with his teammate Miguel Oliveira not being flattering for the Spaniard. Johann Zarco, struggling with a still reluctant Honda, had to settle for an anonymous 17th place. Pedro Acosta, who started from 10th position, paid dearly for going off the track on the 12th lap and finished last in this sprint. The drivers were able to gather crucial information ahead of a 30-lap race, which will be the last before the summer break.
