“For now, my future is at Red Bull,” Verstappen sets the record straight

On the sidelines of the Miami Grand Prix, three-time world champion Max Verstappen confided that he had no intention of leaving Red Bull, despite the departure of iconic engineer Adrian Neway at the end of the season.

Between the “Christian Horner affair”, accused of inappropriate behavior with a team employee, and the announced departure of the emblematic engineer Adrian Newey, who arrived in 2006, at the end of the season, there has never been so much of agitation within Red Bull, which holds the last three drivers’ world championship titles (with Max Verstappen) and the last two constructors’ titles.

As the Miami Grand Prix takes place this Sunday, the paddock is teeming with rumors concerning Newey’s next destination, but also the future of Red Bull, which could lose other important elements. And why not Max Verstappen himself, courted by Mercedes, who is still looking for a replacement for Lewis Hamilton and who would offer him 150 million euros? The Dutch driver wanted to reassure fans of the Austrian team, with which he is under contract until 2028.

“It’s not a question of money”

“For now, my future is at Red Bull, because I believe in the project we have with everyone involved. It is very important to have the fastest car and, of course, a good environment. This is what we currently have, and this is also what I asked for. As long as the environment is good and we have the fastest car, it’s pretty simple. Because I know that if I run for 5th or 6th place, I’m going to get grumpy. »

“So it’s always a question of performance, everyone knows that, Toto (Wolff, Mercedes boss, editor’s note) too. (…) And in the end, it’s not a question of money for me. I’m already very happy, of course, with what I have in the team. “. A team which, for the moment, allows him to prance at the top of the championship, with four victories in five races and 25 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.
