Croatia Rally: Ogier is already showing himself

This Thursday morning, Frenchman Sébastien Ogier, at the wheel of his Toyota, achieved the best time in the shakedown of the WRC Croatia rally.

Sébastien Ogier is in good shape. This Thursday morning, the Frenchman, for his big return to the WRC, at the wheel of his Toyota, achieved the best time of the shakedown, this short test session for the Croatia rally, made up of a total of 3.65 kilometers, counting towards the world championship of the specialty. At the finish, on this test track, the Tricolore, eight-time world champion in this same discipline, beat his teammate, to the west of Zagreb, namely the Briton Elfyn Evans, with a time of 1’55” 7, compared to 1’56″4 for his runner-up.

Sébastien Ogier himself admitted it, it took him several kilometers, during private tests, to completely get back into the swing of things and find the rhythm of the WRC. This Thursday, all this was confirmed for the Frenchman, who is competing in his very first race since the last edition of the WRC rally from Monte-Carlo to Monaco, which took place at the end of last January.

Fourmaux signs the fifth beat

In third place of the day, we find two drivers at the wheel of a Hyundai i20 N Rally1, who set the same time, namely 1’57″1. The two lucky winners are the Belgian Thierry Neuville, current leader of the WRC world rally championship standings, as well as the Estonian Ott Tänak. At the wheel of his M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1, Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux, for his part, took the final fifth place of the day, thanks to a time of 1’58″2.

In sixth place, with a time of 1’58″9, we find the Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen, also back and present this year in the WRC, partially. The Hyundai team driver, present in Monte-Carlo, made four passes. As for the top cars, we then find the Japanese Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) and the Belgian Grégoire Munster (Ford M-Sport).
