Bagnaia the strongest in Catalonia

This Sunday afternoon during the Catalan Grand Prix, Francesco Bagniaia returned to victory ahead of Jorge Martin (Pramac) and Marc Marquez (Gresini). Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who started in 17th place, came back well (9th) and Johann Zarco (LCR) did not have much success (16th).

Winner in Spain and third more recently at Le Mans, Francesco Bagniaia (Ducati) tasted victory again this Sunday afternoon during the Catalan Grand Prix. The Italian won ahead of Jorge Martin (Pramac) and Marc Marquez (Gresini) and is now smiling again after falling during the last lap of the sprint race on Saturday. The two-time reigning world champion (2022 and 2023) got off to a superb start from fourth to quickly catch the lead.

Quite the opposite of Aleix Espargaro, winner the day before. The Spaniard, who started in pole position, immediately lost four places, leaving the reins, in order, to Bagnaia, Acosta, Martin and Binder. During the race, Miller then Acosta fell although the second was able to restart. And “Pecco” and Martin fought over the lead. But the Pramac driver did not give up despite failing to brake at one point and did it again not long after, before increasing his lead as the laps progressed.

Nice comeback from Quartararo

Behind, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who started in 17th place, made a good comeback thanks to a superb start to the race (4 places gained in 6 laps). On the other hand, it was more complicated for Johann Zarco, 18th on the grid and in difficulty on the asphalt of Catalonia. For his part, the reigning double world champion, thanks to his strong pace, reduced his delay on Jorge Martin (Pramac) and put pressure on him a few laps from the finish. Just behind him, a man had not been talked about until now: Marc Marquez. The Gresini driver, who started in 14th position just behind his brother, made a comeback to compete for the podium with driving worthy of his best years.

In front with five laps to go, Francesco Bagnaia charged headlong towards his third victory of the season ahead of Jorge Martin while Marc Marquez managed to contain the attacks of Aleix Espargaro. Behind, Fabio Quartararo finished in a good 9th place while his compatriot was content with 16th place.
