Amazon Prime Video, the incredible twist?

Amazon Prime Video, the incredible twist?

Prime Video is reportedly studying the possibility of becoming the paid broadcaster for Euro 2024 in Germany.

As Prime Video prepares to broadcast its last Ligue 1 multiplex this Sunday evening – the American channel having acquired the TV rights to the French championship for the period 2021-2024 – it intends to continue its activities in sport. And more particularly in football.

According to information released this Saturday by RMC Sport, the giant Amazon has obtained information from UEFA and the CAA Eleven agency to broadcast the paid matches of Euro 2024 in Germany (from June 14 to July 14 ). Prices would be low and affordable for the American platform.

Prime Video does not want to completely abandon L1

However, the game is not yet won for Amazon. The big favorite to recover the TV rights to Ligue 1 for the period 2024-2029, beIN Sports, is also in the race. Not so long ago, the Qatari channel even seemed to hold the rope to broadcast this Euro organized across the Rhine.

Furthermore, RMC Sport suggests that the American giant could at best broadcast a match from the French Ligue 1 championship over the next five seasons for a budget between 80 and 100 million euros. To see this meeting, you will only need to have a basic Prime subscription. There will be no L1 pass.
