Alonso will stop endurance racing after the 2019 edition

Winner of the 2018 edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans with his teammates Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima at Toyota Gazoo Racing, Fernando Alonso will defend his crown in 2019 (June 15-16), before stopping endurance racing for the championship title of WEC world and “to explore new adventures in motorsport”indicates his team in a press release.

The double Formula 1 world champion will be replaced in 2020 by New Zealand driver Brendon Hartley, already victorious on the Sarthe circuit in 2017.

The Spaniard could, in addition to the Indianapolis 500, head towards participation in the next Dakar, which will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 5 to 17.
