Acosta mount in grade

The only rookie this season in MotoGP, the Spanish prodigy Pedro Acosta (20 years old), who plays within the KTM satellite team, will play in the coming seasons within the Austrian manufacturer’s factory team.

He celebrated his 20th birthday last week and he is already impressing the entire MotoGP paddock. The only rookie this season in the motorcycle elite, and currently sixth in the championship, Pedro Acosta was rewarded this Saturday with a multi-season contract within the KTM factory team, while he is playing this year under the colors of the GasGas Tech3 Factory satellite team. He will replace the Australian Jack Miller (29 years old), who recently said he was ready to exchange places with Acosta next season given the talent of the prodigy, who had two podiums (third in Portugal, second in the Americas) during his first six Grands Prix in the premier category.

Acosta: “Wearing orange again is a bit like coming home”

“It was a dream in 2020 when I signed my first contract with KTM in Moto3. It was not an easy time for me and they placed their trust in me. Suffice it to say that I am very happy with the progress I have made and to now be part of the official team. I remember the Red Bull Rookies selections five years ago, it was a bit of a last chance test… There were a lot of expectations around me, from the media and from the sponsors. But those around me were able to reassure me to take some of this pressure off me. These MotoGP debuts have not been easy to manage, given the results. However, we are on the right track. It was important for me to keep pushing, to see the whole project, our story, how much we have grown together. So wearing orange again is a bit like coming home. And all the efforts they have made over the last two years have also convinced me to stay for a few more years,” reacted Pedro Acosta in a press release. The Spanish driver will start seventh in the sprint race this Saturday afternoon at Mugello.
