a 15 euro per month option for Ligue 1

Although nothing has been signed yet, the hypothesis of a television channel dedicated to Ligue 1 is gaining momentum. With two subscription options in perspective.

In six weeks the new season of Ligue 1as part of a presumed new agreement TV rights covering the period 2024-2029. To date, however, the Professional Football League (LFP) has still not found a buyer, being too greedy or unfair to players such as Canal+, Amazon or DAZN.

Now, Vincent Labrune, its president, is counting on the constructive dialogue maintained with beIN Sports, the only partner still clearly listening. An ally who recently acquired the rights to Ligue 2 (for 40 million euros per year) and who should help the LFP to set up its project for a television channel 100% dedicated to Ligue 1.

15 euros per month to follow your favorite club

From the outset, the business plan for this option has included a monthly subscription of 30 euros. At this price, the approximately 2 million subscribers hoped for by the League in the first year would be able to watch all nine matches per day of the championship, as well as the different broadcast formats, summaries and archives of L1.

Expensive, too expensive for many supporters and observers judging by the reactions that have been swarming on the Web since the announcement of this recommended rate. However, according to Daniel Riolo, the LFP has an alternative up its sleeve: a subscription limited to 15 euros per month, to follow his club and only his favorite club. A fan of PSG or OM, for example, could be satisfied with a half-price subscription to follow only the performances of his favorite team.
